The Kansas Southwest Jurisdictional Bible Institute offers two Certificate Programs of Study:
1) The Ordination and Licensure Certificate Program
&
2) The Religious Continuing Education Program
The Ordination & Licensure Certificate
The purpose of the COGIC Ordination and Licensure Certificate Program is to provide foundational knowledge and skills in core practical, historical, and academic areas. At the discretion of the Jurisdictional Bishop and Supervisor, the certificate may be used as a prerequisite for ordination and licensure.
Program Objectives:
To assist denominational leaders in the task of preparing material for the licensing and ordination of future leaders.
To provide non-credit academic courses that serve the needs of non-degree-seeking students.
To introduce students to the fundamentals of the art of Homiletics.
To provide practical ministry and administrative skills for students.
To assist in the development of basic competencies in Bible knowledge, church duties, administration, ministerial assignments, and theology.

Program courses have been developed by the KSWJ Bible Institute. All Bible Institute courses are taught by certified teachers based on a Standardized Ordination Curriculum from C. H. Mason Jurisdictional Institutes (CHMJI):

Certificate of Completion
A certificate of completion will be issued to each student upon successful completion of the entire two-year program. This certificate can also serve as a means of professional development and personal enrichment. Individual course certificates will not be given in this program. The Certificate of Completion will be conferred after all requirements for graduation have been met.
Religious Continuing Education Certificate
For students not enrolled in the two-year Ordination and Licensing Program, individual course certificates are available for those seeking specific courses for knowledge, personal development, or to enhance ministerial goals.
If a student wishes to audit a course without earning a certificate, they must register and pay the full course cost [$75/course].
The student may choose to waive the course tests and exams; however, no grade or certificate will be issued.
Please Note: If a student plans to be a Credential Holder [i.e., become ordained/licensed as an Elder or Missionary] in the KSW Jurisdiction, they must complete The Ordination and Licensure Certificate Program of Study.
Program Guidelines & Requirements
Admissions Policy:
There is no educational prerequisite for the certificate programs.
The minimum age for all applicants is sixteen (16) years of age. Exceptions to this rule may be made for an applicant who shows evidence of spiritual maturity and stability.
Commencement Attendance:
All students who have met the academic and administrative requirements necessary to be awarded a Certificate of Completion are required to participate in the Bible Institute’s graduation commencement exercises scheduled by the Kansas Southwest Jurisdiction.
Exceptions must be approved by the Dean for emergency situations.
Ordination and Licensing Exams:
Licensing and ordination are the sole prerogatives of the Jurisdictional Bishop and Supervisor; therefore, these courses and exams are only recommended for the purpose of standardizing our training.
Completion of the Ordination and Licensing Program will not ensure the conferring of the ordination/licensing certificate. The granting of ministerial ordination and licensing is solely at the discretion of the KSW Jurisdictional Bishop and officials.
Class Attendance:
Specific attendance requirements are outlined within each instructor’s course syllabus for each course.
Other Requirements:
Complete the course objectives, participate in classroom discussions, and complete all classroom requirements as outlined in each instructor’s course syllabus.
Complete the final exam for each course with a minimum score of 70%.
The KSWJ Bible Institute prides itself on academic excellence. Therefore, any final grade below 70% is unacceptable, and the student may be required to retake the course to graduate or receive a certificate.
ONLINE LEARNING
Depending on the instructor’s preference, courses may be taught using a combination of teleconference and web sharing (e.g., Moodle, Zoom, Canvas, etc.). This allows students to participate in a virtual classroom environment.
Courses are taught by KSWJ instructors and can be accessed by any Bible Institute student via the internet, using a web browser, webcam, or cellphone.
Students are required to have video and audio access/function on their devices to participate in all courses. Students must notify their instructor(s) if unforeseen circumstances prevent them from accessing the video portion of the class session.
If the student elects not to be “seen online” during a class session, he/she may be counted absent for that session.
It is the responsibility of all students to have complete access to a functioning laptop or PC with stable internet capabilities. At a minimum, the laptop or computer used should have Microsoft Word, a functioning camera, and audio capability.
